Walking Basketball is an initiative started by Basketball Victoria to encourage people of all ages, genders and abilities to maintain and improve their health by getting active in a low impact, social and fun way.
It is a non-competitive environment that we create to get the best out of every player on the court. The slower pace makes it a welcoming form of exercise for our ageing community that makes up the majority of our participants, as well as those returning from injury.
A session of Walking Basketball at Nunawading Basketball starts with stretching and warmups of dribbling or passing, goes into a drill, and finishes with game play! During game play we have breaks in play and support each other’s wins on the court.
Following the work on the court, we have tea, coffee and morning tea from Bakers Delight Vermont South. To host a morning tea is a requirement from Basketball Victoria to make the experience more social and foster a relationship between the participants.
Join us at 9:30am every Monday of the school term (excluding Public Holidays) on court 4 at Nunawading Basketball Centre in Burwood East. No need to register, just come and go as you like. Contact holly@nunawadingbasketball.com.au for more information.
